Arrival and Kotor First Impressions
You land at Tivat and slip quickly around the bay to Kotor, watching the mountains tighten around the water. After checking in, lunch on the Dobrota waterfront eases you into the slower coastal rhythm. The afternoon is for Kotor’s walled maze: quiet squares, stone façades, and cats sunning themselves under balconies. Step into the Maritime Museum for context, then linger over a seafood dinner tucked inside the Old Town walls. After dark, you wander lantern-lit alleys as church bells and low conversation echo off the stone.
Kotor Serpentine and Lovćen Ridge
The morning begins with the road tilting sharply upward as you leave Kotor, tracing the iconic Serpentine’s stacked hairpins. Bay views widen at each lay-by until Kotor’s red roofs are just a pattern around the harbor. A stop in Njeguši village brings smoky prosciutto and local cheese before the air cools further on Lovćen’s ridge. You climb the steps to Njegoš’s mausoleum and stand in a stone circle of mountains. Back in Kotor, dinner by the water feels especially calm after the cliff-edge drama.
Fortress Climb and Perast by Boat
Morning light catches Kotor’s walls as you zigzag up to the San Giovanni fortress for a full sweep of bay and town. After a coffee back at sea level, you drive the short, scenic curve to Perast, where baroque facades line the waterfront almost at arm’s reach from the water. Lunch is right on the quay before a slow afternoon. As golden hour nears, a small boat carries you over glassy water to Our Lady of the Rocks. You explore the tiny islet, then return for a waterfront dinner as the sky goes pink.
