Arrive and Taste Milan
You land at Malpensa and head into central Milan as the city is waking up. The Duomo’s marble spires rise above the square while locals weave through tourists on their way to work. After a relaxed lunch overlooking the cathedral, you wander the Galleria’s mosaicked arcades and pause for espresso. Late afternoon folds into aperitivo time, when cocktails and small plates appear at the bar. Dinner in a traditional trattoria introduces saffron risotto and rich ossobuco before you stroll back through the softly lit piazza.
Drive to Lake Como
Milan wakes slowly while you grab a cappuccino and watch commuters weave through the Duomo square. Late morning, you collect your rental car and leave the city, trading tram wires for mountains as the road climbs toward the western arm of Lake Como. You skirt Como’s waterfront and continue along the narrow SP583, tunnels cutting through cliffs and sudden lake views opening on each bend. By early afternoon Bellagio appears ahead; you settle into town, wander its steep stone lanes, and end with dinner overlooking the meeting of the three branches.
Bellagio and Sunset Cruise
Morning comes slowly on the lake, with espresso at a bar counter and locals chatting over the sports page. You explore Bellagio’s waterfront and quiet gardens, watching ferries fan out toward distant villages. After a light lunch with wide views, the day stretches at an easy pace—perhaps a swim, perhaps simply reading under the trees. As late afternoon softens, you board a small private boat and slip away from Bellagio, the water turning glassy between here and Varenna, before returning for dinner by the shore.
