Arrival and First Seaside Evening
You land in Nice and make your way straight to the old town, where ocher facades, laundry lines, and the sound of clinking cups set the tone. After dropping bags, you ease into the rhythm with a simple lunch on Cours Saleya, watching market stalls wind down. The afternoon is for a gentle orientation walk through Vieux Nice’s narrow lanes and out to the curve of the Baie des Anges. As the light softens, you return to the market square for an alfresco dinner and your first glass of chilled rosé.
Cours Saleya and Castle Hill
Morning arrives with the clatter of crates and the scent of flowers as Cours Saleya comes fully to life. You browse mounds of tomatoes, basil, olives, and local cheeses, tasting as you go with a paper bag of fougasse in hand. Lunch is at a cozy Niçoise bistro nearby, where the menu changes daily. The afternoon unfolds with a climb to Castle Hill for wide views over terracotta roofs and deep-blue sea. As golden hour settles, you follow the Promenade toward a beachside dinner and unhurried drinks.
Coastal Train to Antibes
Today you follow the tracks west along the coast, pressing to the train window as palm-lined bays and rocky coves glide past. Antibes’ old town greets you with stone lanes, ramparts, and a harbor bristling with masts. A lingering lunch near the market leans into seasonal seafood and crisp white wine. The afternoon is for browsing the covered Marché provençal and wandering up to the Picasso Museum or along the city walls. As evening falls, you return to Nice for a relaxed, romantic pizza dinner by the port.
