You cycle quiet lanes between Pomerol and Saint-Émilion, passing low stone walls, small chapels, and workers moving between rows of grapes. One afternoon leads to a picnic table set between vineyards, château towers in the distance. There is cool white in your glass, charcuterie, cheese softening in the sun, and nothing on the agenda but conversation and the warmth on your shoulders. Evenings return you to the city. The mirrored surface of the Miroir d’Eau ripples under children’s feet, and streetlamps blink on along the quays.
